Arepas: once tried, forever loved

In the small side streets of Friedrichshain, you can find - quite unexpectedly and almost hidden - the Kärrecho. The small restaurant has quickly grown into a big success, as no other location in Berlin serves such delicious and authentic arepas. This type of sandwich (or burger?) is a Venezuelan specialty and made with cornbread. Successfully preparing this bread with the right fluffy consistency is an art beautifully mastered at Kärrecho. Sides are manioc, banana fritters and homemade sauces (it’s well worth visiting for the sauces alone!). Definitely a must-try!
